zoei

Timeless design inspired by texture and light

Zoei is a coastal residence on the Gold Coast, shaped around a single, deliberate idea: clay brick expressed not as a surface finish, but as a continuous ribbon that moves through the home. Drawing from the tones of surrounding sand and shoreline, the palette is quiet and restrained, allowing texture, light, and proportion to do the work. The result is a home that feels grounded, calm, and deeply connected to its setting.

Rather than treating materials as decoration, Zoei explores how they can define space. Brick extends beyond the exterior and is reinterpreted internally in a refined format, carried across floors, walls, and moments of transition. This continuity required early precision, with wall framing and substrate depths carefully resolved so every junction sits perfectly flush. It is subtle, but you feel it. Nothing interrupts the flow.

The arrival sequence sets the tone. A generous entry creates a sense of pause between the outside world and the home, with brick underfoot anchoring the experience. Light is used intentionally throughout, but nowhere more so than in the main living space, where a five metre skylight washes over a full height brick wall. As the day shifts, the surface comes alive. It is never static, never flat.

Throughout the home, form and function are held in balance. Sculptural elements like the curved kitchen island and integrated joinery bring softness to the material palette, while practical decisions quietly support everyday living. Spaces are designed to be used, not just admired. To feel warm, not precious.

Zoei is ultimately about restraint and intention. A home that doesn’t rely on excess, but instead leans into material honesty, natural light, and considered detail to create something enduring.
